Funding call: robotics in extreme environments

Innovate UK is running a £2 million competition for R&D funding for ESP (electronics, sensors and photonics) for robotics in extreme environments. It’s part of the Industry Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), and funding will be available for feasibility studies and collaborative R&D.

Proposals could look at:

  • optics and photonics based sensing
  • compound semiconductor based electronics
  • packaging
  • modelling and simulation

Innovate UK and KTN are running a briefing event about the competition at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh on 21 March, which will be of particular interest to members of the:

  • ESP community
  • robotics and AI community
  • end-user community

We’d encourage SMEs and larger supply chain companies alike, as well as oil companies, to sign up for the event, at which our CEO Ian Phillips will be speaking. As well as finding out more about how to apply, it will be a good opportunity to connect with others interested in this area.

If you can’t make the Heriot-Watt event, there will also be briefings in London and Cardiff in March. Details for all three events are available here.
