OGIC CEO Ian Phillips has been shortlisted for the coveted Industry Leadership Award in the annual Press and Journal Energy Voice Gold Awards. The awards celebrate excellence in the UK energy sector, and we’re delighted that Ian and OGIC’s role in promoting oil and gas innovation has been recognised in this year’s shortlist.
The awards, held in association with Aberdeen Standard Investments, will be announced on 6 September 2019.
The Industry Leadership Award, which is sponsored by Scottish Enterprise, is given to ‘outstanding energy leaders, who deserve to be recognised for their appetite for continued learning, mentoring and influence’ and who have a track record of ‘leading within the sector, empowering people and being a sound ambassador and example of energy’s reputation.’
Also shortlisted for the 2019 Gold Awards is OGIC project partner Sentinel Subsea, which is a finalist in the Innovation Award. With OGIC support, Sentinel Subsea is working with Heriot-Watt University on a new technique to monitor suspended or decommissioned oil and gas wells and give early warning of leaks – it’s being called a ‘smoke alarm for the sea’ and you can read more about it here.
ASI chairman Martin Gilbert said:
“Congratulations to all of the finalists who have been shortlisted. The quality of submissions is testament to the talent, professionalism and innovative outlook of the energy industry. The judges face a difficult task in the next stage among so many worthy candidates.”
